Baseball Recap: Griffith Comes Up Short

Griffith lost against Kankakee Valley back in March of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Panthers lost 12-5 to the Kougars. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly seven runs.

Griffith saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Jimenez, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Jimenez is becoming a predictor of the Panthers' success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 8-10 when he doesn't). Another was Angelo Gallo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Griffith has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Kankakee Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-11-1 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Griffith will face off against Washington Township at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kankakee Valley, they will host Twin Lakes at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Kougars surely won't give up without a fight.
