Penney had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They slipped by the Maysville Wolverines 55-54. The win was all the more spectacular given the Hornets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Wolverines are ranked 127th).

Penney's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-9. As for Maysville, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-6.

Penney will head out to challenge East Buchanan at 8:15 p.m. on Friday. Penney has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-1 during that stretch of close contests. As for Maysville, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Marceline at 7:00 p.m.
