Baseball Game Preview: Hillsboro-Deering Hillcats vs. Hopkinton Hawks

Hillsboro-Deering is 1-9 against Hopkinton since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Hillcats will venture away from home to face off against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Hillsboro-Deering has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Newfound Regional hit Hillsboro-Deering with a six-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hillcats came up short against the Bears, falling 13-3. That's two games in a row now that the Hillcats have lost by exactly ten runs.

Hillsboro-Deering saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lenny Seymour, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Rylan Michael also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Hopkinton lost 10-1 to Campbell on Monday. The Hawks haven't had much luck with Campbell recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Hopkinton now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Hillsboro-Deering, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Hillsboro-Deering came out on top in a nail-biter against Hopkinton in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Hillcats repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
