Volleyball Game Preview: Hilltop Lancers vs. Montgomery Aztecs

The Hilltop Lancers will venture away from home to challenge the Montgomery Aztecs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hilltop is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

On Monday, Hilltop didn't have quite enough to beat San Diego Academy and fell 3-2.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Hilltop sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-21, 17-25, 29-27, 17-25, 15-13.

Meanwhile, Montgomery came up short against Sweetwater on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Aztecs in their meetings with the Red Devils: they've now lost three in a row.

While Montgomery ultimately came up short, they really made Sweetwater work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23.

Hilltop's loss dropped their record down to 7-19. As for Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-14.

Hilltop couldn't quite get it done against Montgomery in their previous meeting on April 4th as they fell 3-1. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Aztecs' Santiago Antuna, who had 15 digs and five aces.
