Basketball Recap: Portal's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Portal can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 69-53 win over the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their 27-point performance the match before.

Portal's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zion Lanier, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 15 points and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Mcqueen, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Portal's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Emanuel County Institute, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Portal Panthers challenge the Metter Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Portal is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season. As for Emanuel County Institute, they will host Savannah Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
