Basketball Recap: Carson Victorious

If McQueen wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Carson, they should've done a better job of containing Ashlan Smokey. The Carson Senators snuck past the McQueen Lancers with a 53-48 victory on Friday thanks in part to Smokey, who posted 14 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Despite the loss, McQueen had strong showings from Jaleigh Fred, who went 7 of 11 en route to 15 points and three steals, and Brooklyn Pimpl, who went 5 for 6 on her way to 18 points and seven boards. Fred has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Carson's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for McQueen, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.

Carson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-27 defeat against Spanish Springs on the 20th. As for McQueen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 51-45 loss against Galena on the 22nd.
