South Bend Clay piles up the points against Cassopolis

Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 7 on the offensive boards, a fact the South Bend Clay Colonials proved on Saturday. They blew past Cassopolis 90-49 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win South Bend Clay has managed all season.

South Bend Clay found their leader in underclassman Tyrese Jones, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Jones hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Brad Hicks, who scored 16 points along with three steals.

Defeat or not, Cassopolis got some senior leadership from Jadyn Brown and Kenny May. Brown scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while May. scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season.

South Bend Clay now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Cassopolis, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Bend Clay will face off against Mishawaka at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cassopolis, they will head out on the road to take on Comstock at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Comstock is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
