Football Recap: Buena Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Buena won the last time they faced Ironwood Ridge and Michael Lujan did his part to make sure it happened again. The Colts managed a 38-32 win over the Nighthawks on Friday with plenty of help from Lujan, who rushed for 182 yards and two scores while picking up 10.7 yards per carry, and also caught one TD. Buena is undefeated when Lujan posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

Ironwood Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maximus Harder, who threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 54 yards. Jaiden Martinez was another key player, picking up 80 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

The victory (which was Buena's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points over those games. As for Ironwood Ridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coming up, Buena will host Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Lujan and Drake Davis. Ironwood Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
