Basketball Recap: McCutcheon Comes Up Short

If McCutcheon was riding high fresh off their 72-42 takedown of Lowell on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The McCutcheon Mavericks had to suffer through a 84-50 loss at the hands of the Northridge Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Raiders are ranked seventh).

Several Mavericks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brody Raeke, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points. Gavin Pritzel was another key player, putting up eight points and nine rebounds.

McCutcheon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Northridge, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

McCutcheon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 67-55 defeat against Goshen on the 28th. As for Northridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-56 victory against La Porte on the 28th.
