Softball Recap: Liberty Extends Winning Streak to Four

Liberty waltzed into their match on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tahquitz Titans a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bison, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Brooklyn Abeyta tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Julianna Larson was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jennessy Lopez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three runs.

Liberty hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in seven consecutive contests.

Liberty's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Tahquitz, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Liberty and Tahquitz will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Liberty will square off against rival Hemet at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Tahquitz is set to take on their familiar foe West Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
