Softball Game Preview: Mesquite Skeeters vs. Copperas Cove Bulldawgs

For the second straight game, Mesquite will face off against Copperas Cove. The Skeeters will square off against the Bulldawgs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mesquite is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Mesquite heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Friday. They came up short against Copperas Cove, falling 10-0.

For Copperas Cove's part, they let Gabrielle Wilson and Brenna Butler run wild. Wilson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Butler went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs Butler has posted since back in February. Taylor Trimm also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Copperas Cove has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mesquite, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-15-1.
