Basketball Recap: Junction City Comes Up Short

Junction City lost against Washburn Rural back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Junction City Bluejays fell to the Washburn Rural Blues 64-58.

Washburn Rural's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Simon Rowley, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Rowley is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Amare Jones was another key player, going 6-for-9 en route to 14 points and six boards.

Junction City has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season. As for Washburn Rural, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Coming up, Junction City will welcome Topeka at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Junction City has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 182 points over their last three games. As for Washburn Rural, they are taking a road trip to take on Emporia at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Washburn Rural's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.
