Basketball Game Preview: Gateway Christian Warriors vs. Elida Tigers

Gateway Christian is 2-8 against Elida since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Gateway Christian Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Elida Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-47, which was the final score in Gateway Christian's tilt against Melrose on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Elida came up short against Dora on Tuesday and fell 48-36. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gateway Christian will need focus on slowing down Hardy Fraze, one of several Elida players who made an impact when they last played. He posted eight points.

Elida's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-8. As for Gateway Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5.

Gateway Christian couldn't quite finish off Elida in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 55-52. Can Gateway Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
