Basketball Recap: Travis Johnson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lone Star

Fleming's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They took down the Lone Star Longhorns 48-32. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Longhorns: they've now won six in a row.

Fleming's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Travis Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Fleming is 3-1 when Johnson posts 15 or more points, but 4-14 otherwise. Treyson Kirkwood was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Fleming smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Lone Star still got an impressive performance from Grant Kuntz, who posted ten points along with seven boards and five assists. Kuntz is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Anderson Weathers, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Fleming's victory bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Lone Star, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Fleming wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 42-40 loss against Caliche on the 1st. As for Lone Star, they have also already played their next game, a 67-41 defeat against Peetz on the 1st.
