Softball Game Preview: Montour Spartans vs. Ellwood City Wolverine

The Montour Spartans will take on the Ellwood City Wolverine at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Montour has given up an average of 13.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Thursday, Montour beat Western Beaver 16-13.

Shania Cope was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game. Another player making a difference was Hailey Staub, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Montour always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Ellwood City scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Union Area.

Montour's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2-1. As for Ellwood City, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
