Recap: Durant Cougars vs. Haines City Hornets
There's no place like home for the Durant Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They took their matchup at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 77-49 win over Haines City. Given Durant's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Haines City is ranked 543rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Austin White, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 2 assists. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games he's played. Wylde Correa was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Durant's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27 points. As for Haines City, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-17.
Durant will take on Plant City at TBD on Thursday. Hopefully Durant focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. Haines City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
