Baseball Game Preview: North Scott Lancers vs. Maquoketa Cardinals

North Scott has gone a perfect 10-0 against Maquoketa recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Lancers will head out on the road to square off against the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. North Scott is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

North Scott's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Davenport Central 6-0.

Meanwhile, Maquoketa hadn't done well against Independence recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cardinals won by a run and slipped past the Mustangs 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cardinals.

North Scott pushed their record up to 9-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Maquoketa, their win bumped their record up to 4-15-1.

North Scott took their victory against Maquoketa when the teams last played back in June of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
