Preview: Brock Eagles vs. Pilot Point Bearcats
Brock is 7-1 against Pilot Point since September of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Brock Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Pilot Point Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brock has five straight wins, Pilot Point has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Brock can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past Ponder 69-12 on the road. With Brock ahead 35-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brock to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brody Woods, who rushed for 161 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Woods' longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Another player making a difference was Brett Tutter, who rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Ponder to a paltry 134 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Brock's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out 16 times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
Meanwhile, Pilot Point fell victim to Peaster's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Greyhounds, falling 38-0.
Brock's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 65 points. As for Pilot Point, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Brock commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.4 touchdowns per game. It's a different story for Pilot Point, though, as they've been averaging only 0 per game. Will Brock continue their march to the end zone, or will Pilot Point flip the ?
