Preview: Sanger vs. Madera
Sanger is 10-0 against Madera since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Sanger Apaches will be playing in front of their home fans against the Madera Coyotes at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sanger has three straight victories, Madera has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Monday, Sanger kept a clean sheet against Justin Garza. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Guardians. Give Sanger's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Hezekiah De Leon and
Santana Mercado, who scored both of Sanger's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 38 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Madera suffered a tough 5-2 defeat at the hands of McLane on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Madera in their matchups with McLane: they've now lost four in a row.
Sanger has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5-3 record this season. As for Madera, they dropped their record down to 3-16-3 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything went Sanger's way against Madera in their previous meeting back in January as Sanger made off with a 5-1 win. Will Sanger repeat their success, or does Madera have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
