Volleyball Recap: Centennial Broncos vs. Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines
Centennial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in August.
Centennial started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-17.
Cheyenne Tonniges paced Centennial's offense, picking up 13 kills. Tonniges got some help from Hannah Luebbe and her 22 assists. Tyler Opfer and Kate Breitkreutz kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with four aces apiece.
Camille Nohavek had a dynamite game For Wilber-Clatonia., getting 22 digs and eight assists. Those eight assists gave Nohavek a new career-high.
Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Wilber-Clatonia, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-12.
Centennial and Wilber-Clatonia could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. The Broncos (ranked 220th) will meet Centura (ranked 39th) on Thursday. Meanwhile, Wilber-Clatonia will face off against David City on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (204 vs. 35).
