Basketball Recap: Gulf Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Gulf had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 75-64 victory over the Osceola Warriors.

Gulf's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Odell Brown, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Antwon Brown was another key player, going 6-for-12 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Gulf was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Osceola's also-impressive total of 13.

Osceola lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jackson Bird, who shot 54% from the field en route to 23 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Aiden Dyals, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards.

Osceola's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Gulf wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-49 victory against Fivay on the 20th. As for Osceola, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pinellas Park at 8:00 p.m. on December 1. The contest will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
