Softball Recap: Scranton Prep Cavaliers vs. Valley View Cougars

Scranton Prep had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it nine. They came up short against the Valley View Cougars, falling 13-0. If the Cavaliers were looking for revenge after losing 13-0 to the Cougars when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Valley View, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games.

For Valley View's part, Abbi Call made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Call has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Palickar was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Zoie Krupovich, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Scranton Prep is set to take on their familiar foe Scranton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Valley View will square off against rival North Pocono at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 2.9, the Trojans 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
