Baseball Game Preview: South Houston Trojans vs. Alvin Yellowjackets

South Houston is 0-5 against Alvin since March of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The South Houston Trojans will host the Alvin Yellowjackets at 12:00 p.m. South Houston has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

South Houston came up short against Alvin on Saturday, falling 15-4. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

South Houston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Salinas, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1. Salinas is becoming a predictor of South Houston's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-11 when he doesn't). Jacolby Mayberry was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Alvin has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. South Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
