Softball Recap: Eastern Beats Unioto for Their Third Straight Victory

Eastern had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Unioto Shermans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 22nd.

Leah Rader spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lynnleigh McCollister, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lydia Park, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Eastern's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Unioto, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-8.

Eastern and Unioto should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings.
