The Fisher Bunnies will take on the Unity Christian Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Fisher barely beat Cissna Park the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Fisher put the hurt on Cissna Park with a sharp 15-5 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bunnies considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Jaymz Hammock made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up three earned runs but no hits. Hammock was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jesse Arndt, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Weston Ensign was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Unity Christian not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 20, 2024. They blew past Meridian 19-13.
Unity Christian got a massive performance out of Zach Hesse, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave Hesse a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Raffety, who went 4-for-6 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Unity Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They got six more hits than Meridian's also-impressive total of 11.
The victory got Fisher back to even at 1-1. As for Unity Christian, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.
Fisher took their victory against Unity Christian when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 21-1. Will Fisher repeat their success, or does Unity Christian has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
