Baseball Recap: Encinal's Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak at Home

Encinal lost against Newark Memorial back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Encinal Jets fell 5-2 to the Newark Memorial Cougars. The match marked the Jets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Encinal got a good showing from Darren Olson, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Olson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

Encinal's loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Newark Memorial, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Encinal will welcome Campolindo at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Newark Memorial, they will take on Hayward at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hayward has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.25 runs per game on average), something Newark Memorial will no doubt try to take advantage of.
