Preview: Concordia Lutheran Crusaders vs. Antonian Prep Apaches
The Concordia Lutheran Crusaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Antonian Prep Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Concordia Lutheran will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 605th, while Antonian Prep is ranked 261st).
Last Friday, Concordia Lutheran was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 33-27 to Central Catholic. Concordia Lutheran has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Antonian Prep had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 38-28 victory over St. Pius X. Antonian Prep had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year.
Concordia Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Antonian Prep, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
Concordia Lutheran came up short against Antonian Prep in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 27-14. Thankfully for Concordia Lutheran, Topher Stubbs (who rushed for 139 yards while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 54 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
