Baseball Recap: Ozark Makes It Five in a Row at Home

While Ozark's win against Carthage wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Ozark had just enough and edged out Carthage 5-4. The victory continues a trend for Ozark in their matchups with Carthage: they've now won nine in a row.

Ozark let Rylan Sutton and Marcus Heavin run wild. Sutton went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Heavin scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Sutton has posted over his last six games. Peyton Bullinger also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Ozark's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs across that stretch. As for Carthage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Ozark is taking a road trip to square off against Carl Junction at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Carthage, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Monett at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cubs have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
