Preview: Avalon Eagles vs. Oakwood Panthers
The Avalon Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Oakwood Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Avalon's defense has only allowed 26.6 points per game this season, so Oakwood's offense will have their work cut out for them.
After a string of five wins, Avalon's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 56-45 to Milford.
Meanwhile, Oakwood was able to grind out a solid win over Penelope on Tuesday, taking the game 37-28. The win made it back-to-back wins for Oakwood.
Jacee Youngblood continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Rai'Miaya Winston was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Avalon's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6. As for Oakwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Avalon strolled past Oakwood in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 48-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Avalon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
