Baseball Recap: Walhalla Find Success

Walhalla hadn't done well against Pendleton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Walhalla walked away with a 6-3 victory over Pendleton. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-2 last Monday.

Collin Phillips made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Phillips was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nate Johnson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Walhalla: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Bibb, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Walhalla has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Pendleton and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Walhalla will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pendleton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
