Soccer Game Preview: Eagle Rock vs. Marshall

The Eagle Rock Eagles will challenge the Marshall Barristers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Marshall better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Eagle Rock really get things going. Eagle Rock never let Franklin onto the board and left with a 3-0 victory on Monday. The result kept the Eagles happy, as they haven't lost a game since December 4, 2024.

Meanwhile, Marshall had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 6-0 win. Given the Barristers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Tigers are ranked 686th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marshall's offense was hitting Lincoln from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Luis Gonzales led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Eagle Rock pushed their record up to 3-2-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matchups. As for Marshall, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
