Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Iota

Iota entered their tilt with Rayne on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Wolves. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolves, too.

Haydyn Schexnayder made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Addison Cormier was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Kaleigh Roy also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Iota pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Rayne, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15-1 record this season.

We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Ville Platte has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.25 runs per game on average), something Iota will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rayne, they will host Northside at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
