Softball Recap: Monroe Redhawks vs. Anson Bearcats

Monroe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They lost 25-4 to the Anson Bearcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 back in March.

Vania Stevenson was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season.

Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Anson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe will challenge Queen's Grant at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Redhawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stallions have averaged an impressive 13.2 runs per game this season. As for Anson, they will face off against West Stanly at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Bearcats surely won't give up without a fight.
