Basketball Recap: Elbert County Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Elbert County entered their contest against Providence Christian Academy on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Elbert County Blue Devils fell 54-42 to the Providence Christian Academy Storm. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Blue Devils came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Storm are ranked 154th).

It was another big night for Ella Truong, who went 7 for 12 en route to 29 points and eight rebounds for Providence Christian Academy. Truong's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoie Cameron, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards.

Elbert County's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-2. As for Providence Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Elbert County will take on Oglethorpe County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Elbert County is facing Oglethorpe County at the right time seeing as Oglethorpe County is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Providence Christian Academy, they will face off against Lanier Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Providence Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.
