Basketball Game Preview: Northgate Broncos vs. Pittsburg Pirates

The Northgate Broncos will face off against the Pittsburg Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Northgate is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They fell 68-60 to Fairfield. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Broncos came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Falcons are ranked 237th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from David Harris, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals. What's more, he also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nico Martin, who went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Pittsburg was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 64-63 to Rodriguez. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pittsburg now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Northgate, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.

Northgate was able to grind out a solid victory over Pittsburg in their previous matchup back in December of 2017, winning 64-56. Does Northgate have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pittsburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
