Basketball Recap: Largo Piles Up the Points Against Southern

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Largo had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Southern Bulldogs 86-53. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 23 points or more this season.

Largo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jalen Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Johnson a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Cameron Ward, who went 8-for-10 to rack up 19 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

The win (which was Largo's fifth in a row) raised their record to 23-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 86.0 points over those games. As for Southern, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-9.

Largo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-64 victory against Dunbar on the 11th. Southern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
