Basketball Recap: Northfield Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Northfield extended their home winning streak to five games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Elli Baker. The Northfield Norsemen enjoyed a cozy 48-34 win over the Southwood Knights on Friday thanks in part to Baker, who went 8 for 13 on her way to 23 points. The matchup was her third in a row with at least ten points.

Despite the loss, Southwood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hali Pershing posted 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Pershing is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played.

Northfield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points per game. As for Southwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Northfield and Wabash will compete for holiday cheer at 7:45 p.m. on December 21st. As for Southwood, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bluffton at 7:30 p.m. Bluffton will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Southwood surely won't give up without a fight.
