Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Wyatt Jones and Prince Shelburn Lead Yukon to Victory

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Yukon). Everything went their way against the Westmoore Jaguars on Friday as they made off with a 49-24 win. This was payback for the Millers, who suffered a 31-21 loss the last time these two teams met.

Yukon was led to victory by Prince Shelburn and Wyatt Jones. Shelburn rushed for 206 yards and two scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, while Jones rushed for 101 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Shelburn is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 101 every time he's taken the field this season.

Despite the defeat, Westmoore saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Duke Berchtold threw for 204 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.5% of his passes.

The victory made it two in a row for Yukon and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.5 points over those games. As for Westmoore, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Yukon will take on Broken Arrow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westmoore, they will challenge Norman North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars will be up against the Timberwolves' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
