Recap: Bayard Tigers vs. Morrill Lions
The Bayard Tigers suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Morrill at home and fell 63-31. Bayard was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Morrill apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Bayard still got an impressive performance from Joe Hopkins, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Bayard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Pittman Ashwin, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks for Morrill. Ashwin continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Hayward, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Bayard has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Morrill, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Bayard will head out on the road to challenge Leyton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leyton is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Morrill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Minatare at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
