Basketball Recap: Hatboro-Horsham Hatters vs. Springfield Township Spartans

The Hatboro-Horsham Hatters fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Springfield Township Spartans on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 64-61. Hatboro-Horsham just can't catch a break and has now endured nine losses in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Hatboro-Horsham lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Smith. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with six assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenny Lutz, who scored 14 points along with two steals.

Hatboro-Horsham's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Springfield Township, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hatboro-Horsham will take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Quakertown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully the Hatters like a good challenge. As for Springfield Township, they will play host again and welcome the Lions, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lower Moreland is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
