Baseball Game Preview: UIC College Prep Firecats vs. Juarez Eagles

The UIC College Prep Firecats will square off against the Juarez Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. UIC College Prep is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

On Monday, UIC College Prep came up short against Muchin College Prep and fell 10-5.

Wyatt Jones put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Khalil Taylor and Sebastian Camarillo did some serious damage despite the final result: Taylor went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Camarillo went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Anthony Ayala also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Juarez lost 14-4 to King on Thursday.

UIC College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Juarez, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

UIC College Prep took their win against Juarez in their previous matchup back in May of 2017 by a conclusive 16-3 score. Will the Firecats repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
