Vicksburg came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Sturgis Trojans. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Donnie Yant looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maddox Rosalin and Maguire Bowles did most of the damage at the plate: Rosalin went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Bowles went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Rosalin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Kubiak, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Vicksburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matchups.

Vicksburg pushed their record up to 14-8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Sturgis, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20.

Vicksburg will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair will be back at it again later today.
