The McEwen Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the East Hickman County Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. McEwen has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
On Tuesday, McEwen needed a bit of extra time to put away Perry County. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 win over the Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since April 4, 2024.

Ben McPherson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McPherson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Landon Davis was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Cane Burdette also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. East Hickman County put the hurt on Zion Christian Academy with a sharp 18-6 win. East Hickman County's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like McEwen, East Hickman County also got a great game from a two-way player: Dylan Reddin. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Reddin also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because East Hickman County is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Reddin was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Jayden Malugin was a standout: he scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-5. Luke Owens was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
East Hickman County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zion Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .400.
McEwen's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-3. As for East Hickman County, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5 record.
McEwen suffered a grim 14-7 defeat to East Hickman County in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can McEwen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
