Softball Game Preview: Peters Township Indians vs. Keystone Oaks Golden Eagles

The Peters Township Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Keystone Oaks Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Peters Township is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Connellsville hit Peters Township with a six-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians came up short against the Falcons, falling 10-1.

Peters Township saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madi Renda, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Keystone Oaks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over South Allegheny on Thursday.

Kennadi Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Keystone Oaks was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Allegheny only posted a batting average of .172.

Keystone Oaks has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Peters Township, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

Peters Township suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Keystone Oaks in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
