Softball Recap: Lumberton Panthers vs. East Marion Eagles
Lumberton lost against East Marion back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lumberton Panthers' rough 17-7 loss to the East Marion Eagles might stick with them for a while. Lumberton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
For East Marion's part, Zi'Kiya Bridges made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Bridges was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with a home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
In other batting news, Adrinae Aikens and Kayleigh Allen did most of the damage at the plate: Aikens scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Allen scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Allen is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last nine games she's played.
