Recap: Phoenix Spartans vs. Pine Raiders
The Phoenix Spartans pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 77-58 to Pine, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Phoenix's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Despite the loss, Phoenix still got an impressive performance from RONDELL BATTLE, who scored 36 points. The game was BATTLE's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of DERVONTE ANCAR, who scored 14 points.
Phoenix has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Pine, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.
Phoenix will look to defend their home court on Friday against West Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. Pine won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Salmen at 2:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Salmen is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
