Basketball Recap: Flowers Jaguars vs. Pikesville Panthers
It was a good run, but the Flowers Jaguars unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Pikesville by a score of 50-47. Flowers was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Pikesville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darielle Weems, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Jones-Bey, who scored seven points along with five assists and two steals.
Flowers' loss dropped their record down to 14-1. As for Pikesville, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Flowers will be playing at home against the Raiders at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Eleanor Roosevelt is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Pikesville, they will challenge the at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (New Town is ranked 48th, while the Panthers are ranked 24th).
