Softball Recap: Wilmington Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wilmington walked away with it. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Cochranton Cardinals on Monday.

Skylar Leishman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery Harlan, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Wilmington's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Cochranton, with the defeat, they broke their 17-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-2.

Wilmington wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 9-7 loss against Sharpsville on the 23rd. Cochranton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
