Volleyball Recap: New Britain Comes Up Short

New Britain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Southington Blue Knights. The Golden Hurricanes were not able to make up for their defeat to the Blue Knights from their previous meeting back in October of 2023.

New Britain took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-6, 25-14, 25-19.

Despite the loss, New Britain still got an impressive performance from Olivia Dupont, who had 20 blocks and five digs.

Southington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laura Esguerra, who had 16 assists and seven aces. That's the most aces Esguerra has posted since back in October of 2024. Angelica Stavidlo also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

New Britain's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Southington, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-9-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Britain will square off against University at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Southington, they will challenge Glastonbury at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
