Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Golden Bears vs. Ashville Bulldogs

The Lincoln Golden Bears will be taking part in a tournament against the Ashville Bulldogs at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Lincoln is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Childersburg with a sharp 15-1 win on Thursday. The Golden Bears have beaten the Tigers the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Aubrey Machen was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Crow, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Ashville waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Redskins as they made off with an 8-1 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ashville pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
